In a remarkable demonstration of surgical excellence, innovation, and patient-centered care, Mohak Bariatrics & Robotics successfully completed Surgical Swaraj, a landmark bariatric surgery mission led by Dr. Mohit Bhandari, Founder Director of Mohak Bariatrics & Robotics and internationally renowned Bariatric, Metabolic, and Robotic Surgeon.
Conducted on 15 August 2026, the mission was envisioned as a tribute to the spirit of self-reliance and progress in Indian healthcare. Bringing together an experienced multidisciplinary team across multiple operating rooms, Surgical Swaraj was designed to showcase how advanced robotic technology, clinical expertise, and coordinated teamwork can transform lives at scale.
The mission achieved a historic milestone with the successful completion of 51 bariatric surgeries in a single day, performed using the SSI Mantra Surgical Robotic System. The procedures included a range of advanced bariatric and metabolic interventions aimed at helping patients overcome obesity and obesity-related health conditions. The achievement reflected months of planning, clinical preparation, patient evaluation, and seamless execution by the entire Mohak Bariatrics & Robotics team.
Beyond the numbers, Surgical Swaraj represented a mission of transformation. For every patient, the surgery marked the beginning of a healthier future, improved mobility, enhanced confidence, and better long-term health outcomes. The initiative reinforced Mohak Bariatrics & Robotics’ commitment to providing world-class bariatric care while advancing the adoption of robotic surgery in India.
As part of the post-mission follow-up, Mohak Bariatrics & Robotics organized a special Patient Interaction Session, where Dr. Mohit Bhandari personally met patients who participated in Surgical Swaraj, reviewed their recovery progress, and discussed their experiences after surgery.
The session was attended by Dr. Vinod Bhandari, Chairman, SAIMS; Dr. Manjushree Bhandari, Chancellor, Sri Aurobindo University; and Dr. Mahak Bhandari, Managing Director, Bhandari Hospital & Research Center and Consultant Laparoscopic, Bariatric & Robotic Surgeon.
Surgical Swaraj stands as a significant milestone in the field of robotic bariatric surgery, reflecting how innovation, expertise, and teamwork can come together to create meaningful and lasting impact in the lives of patients.
