Childhood Obesity
Ruining Today, Risking Tomorrow!
Childhood obesity has taken a toll on our children lives. India is getting more than 10 million cases a year, which is enormous.
Childhood Obesity
Childhood obesity is one of the most serious concerns and a public challenge today. The numbers are on the rise and don’t seem to stop at any point. The problem is not only present in India, but it is global, affecting many middle and high-class families who binge eat very often. The prevalence of childhood obesity has reached an alarming state.
Overweight and obese children are more likely to stay obese in their adulthood and develop diseases like type-2 diabetes, hypertension, and other cardiovascular diseases at a young age. Type-2 diabetes and other conditions are preventable if you focus on reducing the weight and address obesity at its early stage itself.
Obese children are at high risk of developing lifelong problems like:
- High cholesterol,
- Early heart disease,
- Diabetes,
- Bone problems,
- Skin problems and
- high blood pressure
Reasons why Childhood Obesity
should not be Ignored
- It leads to other related diseases like type-2 diabetes, sleep apnea, hypertension and other cardiovascular diseases.
- It creates psychological issues in children; they feel under-confident, feel depressed due to their large size and have to bear peer comments.
- Obese children are likely to stay obese in their adulthood also.
- Excess weight puts pressure on their knees, making it difficult to walk at an early age.
- Obese children face asthma, snoring and exhaustion at a very young age. They feel tired in no time.
