After Bariatric surgery or any weight loss surgery, regular exercise is a must. However, sticking to your workout routine can seem a daunting task at first. You might lack motivation, make excuses, and workout could be the first thing you abandon. If exercise and workout have never been a part of your daily routine, you might face difficulty in sticking to a workout routine. But if you see, it takes only 21 days to create a new habit, and you can make it possible if you want.
To get started, use these five ways to overcome workout excuses and remain focused-
Create a Calendar
There are a lot of apps and technical devices available today to let you keep track of your activities. Gadgets like fitness tracker watches help you to keep an eye on your regular physical activity and how many steps you have walked in a day. Also, tools like google calendar make it a lot easier to create reminders and set a workout schedule.
Break things up
It can be a little tough for you to find time for a workout in your busy schedule. Especially when the daily workout time is around 30-60 mins. You need to plan and break things up. Whenever there are meetings and a tight schedule, you can do a 15 min high-intensity workout that will give you the same benefits as a 30 min low-intensity workout.
Make it a fun activity
Ask your family and friends to workout with you. Make it a routine that encourages you to leave that bed and do some fun. Play music, talk and do everything that can make your workout a fun activity. Also, if you make excuses, there are fewer chances that your family member is also making excuses at the same time.
Try new exercises
Keep in mind that you don’t stick to a single type of workout routine. Do not make it a tedious activity. Instead, try watching YouTube videos to take some inspiration and new ways of doing the workout. If you regularly do lat pulldowns with an overhand grip, try switching it to underhand.
Don’t starve yourself
Who said, sticking to a workout routine needs sticking to a strict diet also. If you avoid eating before workouts, you will find an excuse for lack of energy in your body. So eat whenever you feel hungry. Don’t starve yourself.
